Using TRiPEAK's patented asymmetric design, the system increases the lower tension pulley to a massive 18T, paired with a 14T upper pulley, while integrating directly with the original SRAM derailleur architecture.

The larger pulley reduces the angle through which each chain link articulates as it passes through the derailleur, helping create smoother chain movement and reduce drivetrain resistance.

Why Oversized?

The principle behind an oversized pulley system is simple.

Increasing pulley diameter reduces the amount each chain link has to articulate as it travels around the derailleur pulley. Less articulation can reduce friction within the drivetrain and create smoother chain movement.

TRiPEAK uses a 14T upper and 18T lower pulley, compared with the smaller pulley wheels found in the original derailleur system.

The oversized lower pulley also allows TRiPEAK to use a larger-diameter bearing, providing increased support and exceptionally smooth rotation.

The result is a drivetrain designed to run smooth, stable and efficient under power.

Patented Asymmetric Design

What makes AOPW particularly clever is how TRiPEAK achieves the oversized pulley configuration.

Rather than replacing the complete derailleur cage, TRiPEAK's patented asymmetric pulley design allows the 18T lower pulley to integrate with the original SRAM T-Type derailleur architecture with minimal modification.

That means you get many of the advantages associated with an oversized pulley system without replacing the complete cage assembly.

Jetstream Pro Ceramic Technology

The Jetstream Pro system is about more than simply fitting ceramic balls into a bearing.

TRiPEAK optimises the complete bearing system — balls, races, coating, seals and lubricant — to minimise rotational resistance while maintaining durability.

G3 Ceramic Balls

High-precision G3-grade ceramic balls provide an exceptionally smooth rolling surface, helping minimise rotational resistance within the pulley system.

NC Race Nano Coating

The inner and outer bearing races receive TRiPEAK's Nano Coating, designed to reduce friction between moving surfaces.

TRiPEAK states a coefficient of friction as low as 0.03 dynamic / 0.07 static, with the coating designed to improve performance and significantly extend service life.

ZERO Contact Seals

TRiPEAK's ZERO Contact Seal provides bearing protection without introducing the additional drag associated with conventional contact seals.

This creates a balance between low rotational resistance and protection from contamination.

Supra LV Lubricant

The bearings use TRiPEAK Supra LV, a specially developed low-viscosity lubricant designed specifically for ceramic pulley bearings.

Its high-flow characteristics promote fast, smooth bearing operation and allow straightforward re-lubrication during servicing.

Composite Pulley Construction

Rather than using a conventional aluminium pulley, TRiPEAK injection moulds the pulley body around the bearing.

This creates an extremely precise interface between the bearing and pulley while eliminating the tolerances associated with traditional press-fit construction.

The composite material is engineered for excellent wear resistance while helping create quieter drivetrain operation.

Narrow-Wide Tooth Profile

Both pulley wheels use a Narrow-Wide tooth design to improve engagement between the chain and pulley.

This provides greater chain stability and positive engagement — particularly important on modern MTB drivetrains operating across wide-range cassettes and demanding terrain.

Simple AOPW Installation

One of the biggest advantages of the AOPW system is its simplicity.

Unlike many oversized pulley systems, there is no need to replace the complete derailleur cage. The AOPW components integrate into the existing derailleur using conventional workshop tools.

TRiPEAK designs the system so that a chain-length change is not normally required.

Important: Chain length and B-tension/B-gap must always be checked after installation and adjusted where necessary.
