The Tripeak Jetstream Pro AOPW-AERO is the latest evolution of Tripeak's oversized pulley wheel system, developed specifically for Shimano 12-speed road drivetrains, including Dura-Ace R9200, Ultegra R8100 and 105 R7100. Combining an all-new aerodynamic Flow-Cover design with an oversized 12T / 16T pulley configuration, it's engineered to reduce drag, improve drivetrain efficiency and deliver consistently smooth, precise shifting. From the aerodynamic Flow-Cover to the oversized pulley wheels and Nano-Coated Ceramic Bearings, every component has been designed to maximise efficiency without compromising durability or reliability.

Aerodynamic Flow-Cover Design

The newly developed Flow-Cover surrounds the lower pulley with a smooth outer surface while incorporating an integrated inner guide plate to improve chain control. By refining airflow around one of the most turbulent areas of the drivetrain, the Jetstream Pro reduces aerodynamic drag by approximately 10–15% compared with Tripeak's previous AOPW design.

Why a 16T Pulley?

Most rear derailleurs use pulley wheels ranging from 11T to 14T, forcing the chain to bend through a relatively tight angle as it passes through the derailleur.

The Jetstream Pro increases this to a 16-tooth oversized lower pulley, allowing the chain to follow a shallower path with less articulation. Less chain deflection means lower mechanical resistance, smoother chain movement and more efficient power transfer.

The larger pulley also houses a larger bearing, which rotates more slowly for a given cadence. This helps reduce bearing loads while contributing to improved durability and consistently smooth performance over thousands of kilometres.

Why Composite Pulleys?

Rather than pressing bearings into a traditional aluminium pulley, Tripeak uses an injection-moulded composite pulley that fully encapsulates the bearing.

This creates an exceptionally precise, zero-tolerance fit between the pulley body and bearing while increasing wear resistance and reducing drivetrain noise. The composite material is also kinder to the chain than a machined aluminium pulley, helping extend the service life of both the pulley wheels and the chain.

Combined with Tripeak's Narrow-Wide tooth profile, the result is quieter operation, improved chain retention and smooth performance in all riding conditions.

Nano-Coated Ceramic Bearings

The Jetstream Pro uses Tripeak's premium NC Nano-Coated Ceramic Bearings, featuring precision G3-grade ceramic balls, nano-coated bearing races and Supra LV low-viscosity lubricant.

The nano coating significantly reduces friction between the bearing surfaces while improving wear resistance, while the Zero Contact Seal protects against contamination without introducing unnecessary drag. Together, these technologies deliver exceptionally smooth rotation, long service life and consistent performance in real-world riding conditions.

Compatibility

The Jetstream Pro AOPW-AERO (12T / 16T) has been developed exclusively for the following Shimano 12-speed road groupsets:

• Shimano Dura-Ace R9200 12-speed

• Shimano Ultegra R8100 12-speed

• Shimano 105 R7100 12-speed

This version is not compatible with SRAM AXS drivetrains or Shimano 11-speed groupsets.

Tripeak's patented asymmetric cage design allows the oversized pulley system to integrate seamlessly with the original derailleur architecture while maintaining straightforward installation. Chain length adjustment is typically not required, although chain length and B-tension should always be checked after fitting.
