Why Carbon Fibre?
Replacing aluminium with carbon fibre isn't simply about reducing weight.
Carbon fibre allows material to be placed exactly where it's needed, producing an axle that's exceptionally light while maintaining the stiffness required for accurate wheel location and confident handling.

One-Piece Carbon Construction
Conventional lightweight aluminium thru axles often rely on making every section thinner to save weight, including the axle head itself.
Overfast takes a different approach.
The one-piece moulded carbon fibre axle cap combines exceptional strength with controlled elasticity, allowing it to withstand repeated tightening loads without the fatigue associated with thin aluminium components.
The result is a lighter axle designed for long-term reliability.
MagicLock™ Physical Bonding Technology
One of the biggest challenges with carbon fibre thru axles is securely joining carbon fibre to metal.
Rather than relying solely on adhesive bonding, Overfast developed its patented MagicLock™ Physical Bonding Technology.
A precision-machined 7075 aluminium threaded insert incorporates an internal mechanical locking structure that physically interlocks with the expanding carbon fibre shaft before being permanently bonded with high-strength adhesive.
Even without adhesive, the mechanical interface withstands loads of up to 500kgf. Combined with structural bonding, testing has demonstrated tensile strength of up to 900kgf, providing an exceptional margin of safety for real-world riding.
Double Groove Anti-Twist Design
Carbon fibre performs exceptionally well under tension, but resisting torsional loads requires careful engineering.
Overfast's Double Groove Anti-Twist design uses matching internal and external locking profiles to prevent the aluminium threaded insert from rotating independently of the carbon axle.
The result is a secure connection capable of withstanding repeated installation, removal and tightening without compromising structural integrity.
The new 2026 titanium hex insert further enhances long-term durability by reinforcing the tool interface, ensuring consistent engagement with a 6mm hex key even after repeated wheel changes.
